The European School in Group Theory provides high level courses on recent developments in group theory. This year the School will take place in the Lorentz Center , an international Study Center for Astronomy, Mathematics, Physics as well as Computer Science, established in Leiden , The Netherlands. The School is primarily aimed at young researchers (under 35 years) from EC or associated countries. The core of the scientific program will consist of five main courses , a training in computer algebra related to group theory and a seminar in which the participants can present their own work. The maximum number of participants will be fifty.

	A.V. Zelevinsky (Boston):	Total Positivity and Double Bruhat Decomposition

Grants: The School is supported by a grant from the European Community which will provide funding towards the registration, travel and subsistence costs of selected young (under 35 years) researchers from EC and associated countries only. Other limited funds exist for participants from outside the EC.

Accomodations: The School will take place at the Lorentz Center . Accomodations of participants will be provided in nearby hotels. The cost of full board and lodging is Dfl. 100.- per day (with a shared double hotel room).

Deadline for registration: MARCH 16,1998. The selection of participants will take place before the middle of April. There will be a registration fee of Dfl. 400.-.
