Public transport
Take a train to Leiden CS ("Central Station") (20 minutes from Schiphol airport). You now have three of possibilities:
- By foot:
-
It is a 25 minute walk from the station along the "Wassenaarseweg". Here is a map.
- By bus:
- Busses stop in front of the train station. You take line 30 in the direction of Oegstgeest (get off at the stop "Rekencentrum"). The busses leave from the station every 30 minutes (until 7.30PM). The Mathematical Institute is in the nearest building, across the road from the bus stop.
- By taxi:
- Taxis are located at the back of the station. The cost is about Dfl 12-15.
By car
It is easiest to approach from the A44, the main road which runs parallel to the coast, just to the west of Leiden (make sure you take the A44, not the A4 which also connects Amsterdam, Leiden and The Hague, but runs along the other side of the city).
- Get off at the Exit "Oegstgeest" and drive towards the city along the "Rijnzichtweg".
- After about 500 m, at the second set of traffic lights, and a church, turn Right into the "Rijngeesterstraatweg".
- You are soon driving on a leafy road, which winds a little, but then after about 1 km, makes a very sharp turn to the Left. Just after this bend, turn Right into the University complex.
The Mathematical Institute is the first building on your right. Parking space is on your left.
